STUDIO POLICIES
COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT
It is AMDC’s policy that we are open and transparent in our expectations. These policies will endeavour to make all requirements clear, without confusion, and ensuring the ongoing safety of our students, reassurance to our parents and highest quality of care and professionalism from our teaching staff. AMDC aims to uphold the values and integrity of the school by ensuring the best possible opportunity for students to learn the art of dance.
In 2011 Victorian laws regarding discrimination, bullying and harassment were extended to include community clubs and schools including staff, volunteers and participants. AMDC is committed to ensuring that we operate a school that is free of bullying and harassment of any description adopting a ‘zero tolerance’ policy that provides a platform to support the rights of all school attendees.
We have developed a Code of Conduct to ensure that all students, teachers, parents and visitors to the school are treated respectfully and without discrimination. The code is a set of key guidelines for which every school participant is expected to comply and uphold with a specific focus on students, teachers and parents.
AMDC recognizes the vulnerability of its students in terms of age ranges and therefore aims to be proactive in providing a safe and secure school environment. Bullying, harassment and intimidation is a serious offense which impacts upon a person’s self esteem and can cause other associated issues. It is our belief that collectively the school community can work toward reducing the potential of bullying and harassment including all other inappropriate behaviors through clear communication strategies coupled with a code of conduct guide.
AMDC welcomes all students, teachers and parents to make contact should a problem arise with all information to be treated as strictly confidential. Please direct all enquiries to the Principal.
The purpose is to implement policies that aim to protect, as well as uphold and safeguard, the rights including the well being of all school attendees being students, teachers, parents and visitors, to promote the school’s values and model appropriate behaviour through a collaborative and respectful approach, and to ensure that AMDC operates in accordance to professional dance codes under the RAD guidelines.

GRIEVANCE POLICY
AMDC recognises that unfortunately issues may arise from time to time, which may need to be addressed and resolved, with the aim of developing and maintaining a harmonious environment. With this aim in mind, the purpose of this policy is to have any issues handled and resolved in a prompt, fair and effective manner.
For the purposes of this policy, a ‘grievance’ means any type of issue (including problem, concern or incident) about an activity or matter raised in respect of which they genuinely believe they have been subject to unreasonable, unfair or otherwise inappropriate treatment, action or conduct. Anyone who has a grievance should not ignore it. Ignoring it might be interpreted by any other person(s) involved as consent or acceptance that the offending conduct is acceptable or can continue. In some cases, if the subject matter of the grievance is not addressed, it may result in psychological or physical injury.
Accordingly, anyone who has a grievance is encouraged (or required if it relates to a serious issue) to raise it and have it resolved in accordance with the terms of this policy.
Grievance resolution procedure
There are two options in resolving a grievance:
self-management; and
making a complaint.
A complaint is made by emailing the Principal. Following which, they will assess the complaint and determine in their discretion whether an Informal Response or Formal Response is warranted in order to resolve the complaint.
